The client, a successful business owner in the service industry, had used several Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms to list his businesses’ services. He was having trouble finding the right SaaS platform that would truly meet the needs of his businesses. Additionally, being based in California, he wanted to use a service that would allow him to easily comply with the labor laws for California-based independent contractors.
Our Client had an idea to create his own SaaS platform that fully met his needs and the needs of business owners like him. He also wanted the SaaS platform to work better than the ones that he had tried to use. The SaaS website needed to be able to not only list the independent contractors but also help them to manage their businesses better.
He also needed a way for the independent contractors to process payments, accept signatures, set schedules, book and confirm appointments, and provide in-depth reports to help the independent contractors gain deeper insight into their businesses and their profitability. Not being a developer, he was at a loss for how to accomplish these things.
After a discussion with our client, Idea Maker identified his wants and needs for his SaaS platform. He wanted to create a website-based platform like Yelp or Uber that would allow people to search for independent contractors near them so that they could receive services, like cleaning or appliance repair.

We realized, after going through the preliminary steps of our development process that he’d also need to include a rating system to better meet the needs of clients. Idea Maker’s team was also sure to include profile creation, price editing, reporting, schedule setting, signature acceptance, and payment processing features.
The website Idea Maker created for our client used Stripe for payment processing. The SaaS platform website also allowed independent contractors to detail their business services and hours. Clients could view schedules and book appointments with ease. Additionally, with the rating system that we helped institute, clients could easily find a qualified service provider.
With the SaaS platform created, our client was happy with the results. The SaaS platform worked better than the ones he had tried before and he was poised for success.
What We Did
Orange County custom software development agency, Idea Maker built a custom scheduling system that used email notifications to alert both contractors and clients of service appointments. Clients would be able to review appointment times, create and reschedule bookings, and send instant messages to service providers. The notification system sends out notices by email and includes links for rescheduling and cancellations.
Using Stripe, Idea Maker was able to integrate payment processing abilities into the SaaS platform. Upon completion of a service visit, the independent contractors could display a complete summary of charges and process payment using the card on file.
Contractor Profile Creation
The SaaS platform built by Idea Maker also allowed for the creation of contractor profiles. The customizable profiles allowed the independent contractors to specify the details of their business, use their own brand images, and set vacation statuses as well as customize their schedules.
The SaaS platform was also set up to create reports for the independent contractors and the owners of ListYNG themselves. Users of the website are able to view in-depth reports about appointments booked and payments processed. This helped them to better manage their businesses.
