Universal Servo is a Florida-based robotics company that outgrew its project management tool. When the leaders at Universal Servo came to Idea Maker, they had an idea, a budget, and a list of requirements that the new solution needed to help them continue to grow and succeed.
The primary concern for Universal Servo was that the previous project management tool was quickly being outgrown. The company’s success meant more clients, more user roles, and more project tasks needing to be managed.
Universal Servo needed a solution that would do everything that SmartSheets and Microsoft Excel were doing but on a much larger scale. Their workflow and efficiency were suffering because the customer demand had grown to be more than the previous systems could handle.
They needed to manage multiple customers, employees, and contractors without sacrificing security or the chance that one project’s interactions with the program might influence another project sheet. Many of Universal Servo’s robot repair projects were of a confidential nature and needed the added security of user permissions. Their current system didn’t offer this level of secure versatility.
After discussion with the people who used the current programs most, they decided that Idea Maer needed to provide them with a customized job ticketing program, a user-friendly interface, with different user roles and security levels.
Universal Servo was concerned that they’d need a completely new program to manage their project needs. However, instead of building from the ground up, Idea Maker suggested a custom database and a middleware program to bridge the gap between their current systems and the new database.

What We Did
Idea Maker worked with the client to build a customized database to contain and organize all work orders and customer requests into an easy-to-use platform. This database can track different user roles and security levels and only gives access to users to the projects they are assigned to. Using a custom middleware program, Idea Maker integrated the programs Universal Servo already used into a seamless database.
Customized Job Ticketing Program
Each new job that came in needed to be recorded and organized into the database. Creating a customized ticketing program made this process more efficient and conveyed all the information required to the team working on that job.
The custom middleware integrated their database with their job ticketing system and increased their workflow efficiency. Each user role is set up with individual permissions to keep the information each tech or customer receives relevant only to their project: no extra data, no confusion.
