Before coming to Orange County custom website development company, Idea Maker, the client had an idea to make a custom nonprofit website. The website would be used to build capacity for socio-economic development in distressed communities. Their goal was to build a nonprofit website to help them reward people for donating and loaning money to displaced peoples on a regular basis.
The concept was simple but the execution would be difficult. The custom nonprofit website would need to be able to accept loans and donations on a regular basis from their donor users. The website would then need to be able to easily and without much user input disburse payments to recipient users. The website would also need to be able to accept loan repayments.
As this website dealt with legal interactions and loans, the website would also need to take users through legal documents and ensure that they read, understood, and signed the agreements before entering into any loans.
The client also wanted to ensure that the website was user friendly. They wanted the website to be mobile responsive and they wanted all the features to be easy to use by both donor and recipient users.
What made this nonprofit website unique was its reward system. For donors that loaned or donated money on a regular basis, they would be given an opportunity to receive a high rate of interest back for their loans. This nonprofit website would require custom coding to build. This is when they turned to Idea Maker.
When Reward Insights came to Idea Maker they weren’t entirely sure that their idea could be made into reality. After taking them through the preliminary steps of our proven web development process, we determined that their nonprofit website could be built to do exactly what they wanted it to do without much user input.
To make it easy for our client’s users to understand and read the necessary legal information, we installed a PDF viewer into the website. This allows the loaning user to read the necessary legal information and then sign it using an e-signature. It also provides a simplified user experience.
To make the payment process easy for donor and loaner users, Idea Maker utilized both Plaid and Stripe to make the payment process easier. Plaid is a banking account payment processor and Stripe is a credit card payment processing system.
The payment processing system used to create Rewards Insights is a sophisticated system that required custom coding to attain. For loans, transaction fees are charged to the borrower. For donations, transaction fees are charged to the donors.
With everything built to their exact specifications, Rewards Insights was ready to change the world.
What We Did
eSignatures for Legal Documents
Rewards Insights is a nonprofit eCommerce website that allows users to lend money to people in financial need. This process requires legal documentation. To facilitate a smooth lending process, Idea Maker embedded PDF legal documents onto the website for users to read. To help lending users sign documents for Reward Insights, we integrated Hello Sign, an eSignature platform, onto the nonprofit website.
Bank (ACH) and Credit Card Processing
To give Rewards Insights users options for donating and lending money on the nonprofit website, Idea Maker suggested that our client use both ACH and credit card payment processing. We then, under their direction, used Stripe for credit card payment processing and Plaid for fast bank connections and cost effective ACH transactions.
To help Rewards Insights better communicate with their supporters, Idea Maker developed a supporter portal for the nonprofit website. The supporter portal is user friendly because of its easy to understand dashboard and simplified navigation. On the dashboard, supporters can monitor their donations, loans, and potential earnings.
